Industrial Solar Panel Treatment

Application Protocol: SolarTeflon® Proprietary Surface Treatment

3. Industrial Application Guide (For Utility-Scale Solar Farms)

Purpose

Deploy SolarTeflon® across large-scale assets with maximum efficiency, reducing O&M costs and water usage while maximizing energy yield through consistent, high-performance self-cleaning protection.

Preparation

  • Planning: Coordinate work during scheduled downtime or low-irradiance periods. Avoid rain within a 1-hour window.
  • Logistics: Use automated cleaning trains or drone inspection for pre-clean verification. Ensure a DI water supply for the final rinse.
NOTE: Best to use SolarTeflon® Sheeting Wash helps reduce mineral deposits from typical tap water and prevent spotting.
  • Equipment: Bulk solution; vehicle- or trailer-mounted spray systems with precise flow control and fine-mist nozzles; mechanized buffing units (optional for flat sites); long-reach applicators.
  • Safety: Full PPE (gloves, eye protection, high-visibility vests). Train all personnel on site-specific procedures.

Application Steps

1
Step 1 – System Calibration
System Calibration: Set the spray system to deliver a consistent thin film (≈50–75 ml per panel). Test on a single panel to verify settings.
2
Step 2 – Application (Spray Rig)
Application: Drive the spray rig at constant speed down each row, applying a uniform fan pattern. Ensure dwell time does not exceed 90 seconds before buffing.
3
Step 3 – Spreading & Buffing (Manual)
Spreading & Buffing (Method A — Manual): Teams follow the spray vehicle with long-pole microfiber mop heads to distribute evenly, then buff dry with pole-mounted pads.
4
Step 4 – Spreading & Buffing (Mechanical)
Spreading & Buffing (Method B — Mechanical): Use a second vehicle with rotating buffing heads to polish immediately after application for uniformity and labor savings.
5
Step 5 – Quality Control / Inspection
Quality Control: Inspect spot-checks using gloved hands and low-angle light to confirm a smooth, uniform finish with no streaks or residue.

Aftercare & Performance Monitoring

  • Curing: Enforce a 24-hour no-touch, no-rain period.
  • Data Integration: Log application date, weather, and batch number in the asset management system; correlate yield and soiling data to quantify ROI.
  • Reapplication Cycle: Each treatment lasts 6 to 9 months, and in some cases SolarTeflon® remains effective for up to 18 months, depending on local conditions, reducing maintenance costs while keeping panels clear and efficient.
